Faux Stained Glass Installation

a) evoke the imagery of a sacred space (hence, the backdrop of stained glass)

b) visually represent the intertwining of our lives (hence, the flowers representing the states where we grew up and where we now live).

When I started imagining this piece for our wedding altar, I knew that I wanted to:

We found some large pieces of plexiglass on Facebook Marketplace, and I designed the layout and composition in Photoshop. I then mapped out the designs with a projector onto butcher paper, and began tracing my pencil marks onto the plexiglass using Gallery Glass leading paint.

After all the leading was in place, I began the color! Using a mixture of acrylic paints and glue, I filled in each leaded section and waited for them to dry. (This was one of the most time-consuming parts!) I would hold the dried frames against a window to see how they looked with light shining through.

The finished pieces waiting to be loaded into our cargo van, and then assembled at the venue!
